Manchester City is set to sign Rayan Cherki, an attacking midfielder, from Lyon. According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has been reached between the two clubs after direct contact. The 19-year-old Cherki is expected to sign a five-year contract with Manchester City.
The transfer package is reportedly worth €35 million, with potential add-ons, as L’Équipé reports. Documents are being prepared ahead of the Club World Cup, indicating a swift completion of the transfer. Cherki, who plays as an attacking midfielder, has been with Lyon since his youth and has been linked with several top European clubs in recent months. His style of play has drawn comparisons to creative midfielders. Prior to the Manchester City deal, Cherki had been the subject of transfer speculation, with Borussia Dortmund previously in advanced talks to sign him.
