History

Atlético Madrid, officially known as Club Atlético de Madrid, is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. The club was founded on 26 April 1903 by three Basque students living in Madrid, with the aim of creating a football club for Basque students. Since then, the club has grown to become one of the most prominent clubs in Spanish and European football.

The home stadium of Atlético Madrid is the Wanda Metropolitano, a modern arena with a capacity of over 68,000 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 2017, replacing the club’s previous home ground, Vicente Calderón.
