Deco cited the presence of Robert Lewandowski as the reason, saying “We have Lewandowski at number 9”. Lewandowski has been a key player for Barça, having recently targeted reaching 100 goals for the club. According to Deco, the club’s current priorities do not include signing a new striker, with Lewandowski being the preferred choice for the number 9 position. Gyökeres has been linked to several top clubs amid transfer speculation, but Deco’s comments suggest that Barça is not among them, at least for now. Lewandowski has faced some injury concerns, with Hansi Flick considering a bench role for him on occasion, but he has managed to return to fitness.
