Joan García is on the verge of completing a transfer to Barcelona, with a five-year contract being finalised. The club is set to trigger the goalkeeper’s €25m release clause. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is imminent, with the transfer expected to be completed soon.
García, who plays as a goalkeeper, was previously the subject of interest from Arsenal, who submitted a €20m bid for the player in August 2024. The bid was rejected, with Espanyol demanding €30m for the player. Arsenal had reportedly reached a verbal agreement with García, but ultimately secured Neto on loan after their bid was rejected. García’s style of play and former club history with Espanyol are not yet known to have been a factor in Barcelona’s decision to pursue him.
