Cesc Fabregas, the manager of Como, has confirmed that the club had attempted to sign Eric García, a centre-back, during the recent transfer window. Fabregas described García as a “very good player” and highlighted his versatility. However, he acknowledged that the player will remain at Barcelona.
Eric García is a defender who has previously played for Manchester City. According to his style of play, he is known for being comfortable on the ball and capable of playing in various defensive positions.
Fabregas’ statement comes after reports emerged that Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s manager, had blocked García’s transfer to Como on multiple occasions, with the most recent instance being in April 2025, when a €7m transfer was reportedly blocked. Earlier in January 2025, Flick expressed his desire to retain García at Barcelona, with according to reports at the time. The interest from Como was not isolated, as García also attracted attention from Girona in January 2025. Prior to the transfer window, Fabregas had anticipated a number of signings for Como in August 2024.
