Jorginho is on the verge of joining Brazilian club Flamengo on a free transfer when his contract with Arsenal expires in June. The midfielder, who plays in a deep-lying playmaker role, has a history with European clubs, having previously played for Napoli and Chelsea before joining Arsenal.
Transfer Details
The deal, which has been in the pipeline since January, is expected to be finalised soon. According to @venecasagrande, a three-year contract until 2028 has been verbally agreed upon, and Jorginho has given his consent to the move. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the plan is in place, stating “here we go!”
Background
This is not the first time Jorginho’s potential transfer to Flamengo has been reported. In February, it was reported that Flamengo was set to secure Jorginho on a free transfer, and earlier in the same month, it was stated that Arsenal had rejected Flamengo’s bid for the midfielder. In January, Jorginho addressed the transfer speculation, while in May 2024, his coach at Arsenal, Arteta, advocated for his continued role at the club, after Jorginho had committed to Arsenal until 2025.
