Liam Delap is on the verge of completing his transfer to Chelsea, with the club expected to finalise the signing within the next 24 hours. Ipswich Town has given the green light for medical tests to take place, paving the way for the deal to be completed. The striker, who plays as a centre-forward, was previously on loan at Ipswich Town.
According to the terms of the agreement, Manchester City will receive 30% of the transfer fee due to a sell-on clause included in their initial deal with Ipswich Town. It is reported that Manchester City had previously sold Delap to Ipswich Town. A buy-back clause was also part of the initial agreement, but it is not expected to be activated, with Delap set to join Chelsea instead. The transfer fee is reportedly £30m, as per recent reports.
Delap’s style of play is that of a clinical finisher, and he has previously played for Manchester City’s youth teams before being loaned out to Ipswich Town. With Ipswich Town, he has been utilised in his natural centre-forward role.
