Manchester City is considering Kolo Touré and Pep Lijnders to join Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff. The club is looking to fill vacancies created by the departures of Juanma Lillo, Íñigo Domínguez, and Carlos Vicens. According to Fabrizio Romano, these two individuals are among the options being evaluated for potential roles within the team.
The recent departures have left gaps in the coaching staff, and Manchester City is expected to make decisions on new appointments soon. Guardiola’s current staff has undergone changes, with three members leaving their positions. The club’s manager has been vocal about his requirements, having previously expressed concerns regarding the squad size. On May 20, Guardiola threatened to quit Manchester City over the issue, and later explained that he was seeking a smaller squad.
Kolo Touré, a former defender, has experience in various roles, including playing for Chelsea and Manchester City. Pep Lijnders, on the other hand, has worked as an assistant manager, most recently at Liverpool under Jürgen Klopp, where he was part of the coaching staff that achieved significant success. Lijnders’ style of play and tactics are likely influenced by his time under Klopp, who is known for his high-intensity pressing approach.
